Make running a family bonding
Aside from volunteering in the local community, running or joining a fun run can be one of the things to do on Thanksgiving you can do with your family and friends. The best part of these thanksgiving events is that you can get to donate a portion of your registration to feed a family or buy others their turkey dinner. Here are some of the thanksgiving activities you can join:
- Run to Feed the Hungry
Tag your family and friends and join in the largest Thanksgiving Day run in the country, Run to Feed the Hungry. All proceeds from the event will go toward providing food to hungry Sacramentans. You may participate by running or walking the 5K or 10K, making a donation, or organizing your own fundraising event. Approximately 220,000 people visit one of Sacramento Food Bank’s partner agencies each month for groceries—that’s 1 in 5 Sacramentans! This year alone, the Sacramento Food Bank & Family Services distributed more than 35 million pounds of food. Run solo, assemble a team and participate or run virtually -help fight hunger in the community by participating in this event.
You can also donate directly to the Sacramento Food Bank & Family Services without registering for the run. Click here to donate.
- 2022 Gobble Til You Wobble
Make your Thanksgiving 2022 more worthwhile and rewarding by signing up for the 2022 Gobble Til You Wobble virtual race. Run, walk or gobble your way through a different distance while feeding others. 15% of each registration will go to Feeding America, the nation’s largest domestic hunger-relief organization. For $18, you will receive a medal, bib, and donation to the charity upon completion of your event. Medals and bibs will begin shipping out in mid-October 2022.
Imaginarium: Light Up the Night at Cal-Expo Sacramento

Opening on November 18, see and experience more than five million lights, mazes, rides, shows, and other activities at this early holiday festival in Sacramento. Bring your family and friends and let them immerse in this captivating holiday experience. This family-friendly activity gives you an awe-inspiring experience, especially for the kids, as they roam free and look at the millions of LED lights.
